Cosponsored by Tsinghua University, China and United States-China J. William Fulbright Program, U.S.A., INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BEYOND THOREAU: AMERICAN AND INTNERNATIONAL RESPONSE TO NATURE was held in October 9—11, 2008, Beijing.
I am honored to be invited to participate the conference and to give a presentation entitled ‘The Hermeneutic Circle in Chinese Thought of Aesthetic Appreciation of Nature’ in the first day. I acted as a discussant in the Plenary Presentations of Oct. 10, offering comments on three speakers’ presentations, which are, Greta Gaard’ Take Me to the River, Drop Me in the Water’s Environmental Narratives beyond the Mainstream; Serenella Iovino’s Naples 2008, Or, The Waste Land: Trash, Citizenship, and the Power of Narations; Yang Jincai’s Chinese Projections of Thoreau and His Walden’s Influence in China.
Through sincere communications with international colleagues, I benefited a lot academically. Hope to get more opportunities to take cooperative work with friends all over the world.
